Crime and Games - 15 Cases of Horrific Crimes

Image
READER DISCRESTION ADVISED        I don't believe that video games are evil and cause people to carry out these heinous acts, but I do believe they can have an impact on people mentally. When gaming, no matter what game it is, please be aware of your mental state.      While many people believe that violent video games lead to violent actions in players, studies show that there is no strong, clear link between violent games and violent actions. However, there are cases where crime and video games go hand in hand. In fact, there's more than I care to think about. Some crimes inspired by video games can be fairly comical in title, but more severe cases do occur. I will be discussing 15 cases where video games influenced real life crimes. The Columbine Shooting will not be discussed in this post, simply d...

Roly Poly: Mobile Isopod Care

Image
Roly Poly was a great concept of a game, in my opinion. However, it got very frustrating.  In this game, you have virtual pet Isopods. What is an Isopod? Well, Wikipedia defines it as " an order of crustaceans. Members of this group are called Isopods and include both terrestrial and aquatic species such as woodlice, "  while the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) define them as, "   an order of invertebrates (animals without backbones) that belong to the greater crustacean  group of animals, which includes crabs and shrimp. ".     So now that you know what an Isopod is, let's get to the game. As I said, in this game you get to raise virtual Isopods. You care for them much like any virtual pet, only if you don't care for them in time, they die. This, while lifelike, is very frustrating, since you don't get your in-game money back to get more isopods. In reality, Isopods are hardy creatures that can handle a lot. This game s...

A Game Like No Other...

Available for free on PS4, PS5, Epic Games, and STEAM, The Light in the Darkness is a dark and educational game developed by Luc Bernard. Bernard has a mission to remind people of the events of the Holocaust, so that the victims and history are not forgotten. Bernard's grandmother was actually a caretaker who looked after children who came off the Kindertransport in the UK.      The Kindertransport is German for "Children Transport". The UK took nearly 10,000 children, most who were Jewish, from Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Poland, and the Free City of Danzing. These children were taken from Nazi controlled territories during the 9 months before the start of WW2. Often times these children were the only survivors of their family following the Holocaust.                  Why I Made It: Luc Bernard, Director of The Light in the Darkness (mopop.org)     This being said, it's understan...

Left or Right? Playable or Not?

Image
Left or Right is a game I've seen SO many ads for, and all the ads look the same. I was never super interested in them, but I figured why not give it a try and see if I can stop seeing those darn ads. So, I installed this version of the Left or Right game. If you don't know what the Left or Right game is, basically it started as a trend on Tik Tok where one person would be holding and option in either hand and another person would be sitting in front of them with their eyes close or looking right at the camera. The person who was sitting would then choose either the person's left hand or the right hand without knowing what they were choosing. That was basically the gist of this game, only I knew what I was picking and had to dress the character up to dance and battle against other characters. Yeah... kinda weird. Also, kinda defeats the purpose of what the Left or Right game is, but to each his own. So, I download the game and start to play. I'm enjoying it for about 3 ...
